The Junior League of Nashville and the Young Leaders Council have formed a partnership to offer a BOARD TRAINING PROGRAM to all Junior League members patterned exactly after the Young Leaders Council's on-going program. It begins the first Thursday in January with one-l/2 day sessions per week and will continue on Thursday mornings for ten consecutive weeks.

The topics offered will be subjects in which all board members should be knowledgeable---e.g. fundraising, special event fundamentals, nonprofit financials, conflict resolution, strategic planning, etc. Instructors are leaders in the community and professionals in the subjects offered.

After the training classes are completed, each participant will be placed on a board of her choice to do a one-year internship as a nonvoting member. Upon completion of the internship, each participant will become an alumnae of the Young Leaders Council.

Class size will be a minimum of twenty participants and a maximum of thirty, and they will be selected on a "first-come, first-serve" basis. The fee for the program is $400.00, and all of the classes will be held at TACC. (In many instances, Young Leaders Council's past participants' companies have paid their fee. If a Junior League member works, it's quite possible her company will pay her fee also.)

Applications must be received by December 1 to be considered for the class.

A partnership between Young Leaders and the Junior League of Nashville was formed in 2005 to provide Young Leader's board training program for Junior League members. We have completed 4 classes since the partnership began.  After completing the training program, Junior League members in the class become Young Leader alums.
